About the Institute

The International Institute for Young Musicians L.L.C. is an American organization dedicated to creating world-class opportunities for young musicians from around the globe. IIYM assists participants in translating artistic vision into high performance through direct, practical, and fully involved guidance from internationally renowned professionals. The IIYM Summer Music Academy, under the direction of Dr. Scott McBride Smith, is an internationally recognized course of intensive study for young musicians, offering instruction to students from around the world who wish to improve their mastery of performance.

IIYM is pleased to announce a $50,000 donation from Jack and Jan Gaumnitz, of Lawrence, KS, to the IIYM Foundation. This generous donation will go to augment the money available to prizewinners in the IIYM International Piano Competition over the next five years.

The new cash prizes, beginning with the 2016 IIYM International Piano Competition, are:

First Prize - $10,000 Second Prize - $6,000 Third Prize - $3,500 Audience Prize - $1,000 Finalist Prize(s) - $1,500
